Wishlist Wednesday #24

Wishlist Wednesday is a book blog hop where we will post about one book per week that has been on our wishlist for some time, or just added (it's entirely up to you), that we can't wait to get off the wishlist and onto our wonderful shelves. It is hosted by Dani of Pen to Paper.
I wish... I wish... I wish to have...

The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith (a.k.a J.K. Rowling)

Goodreads Synopsis:
A brilliant debut mystery in a classic vein: Detective Cormoran Strike investigates a supermodel's suicide.

After losing his leg to a land mine in Afghanistan, Cormoran Strike is barely scraping by as a private investigator. Strike is down to one client, and creditors are calling. He has also just broken up with his longtime girlfriend and is living in his office.

Then John Bristow walks through his door with an amazing story: His sister, the legendary supermodel Lula Landry, known to her friends as the Cuckoo, famously fell to her death a few months earlier. The police ruled it a suicide, but John refuses to believe that. The case plunges Strike into the world of multimillionaire beauties, rock-star boyfriends, and desperate designers, and it introduces him to every variety of pleasure, enticement, seduction, and delusion known to man.

You may think you know detectives, but you've never met one quite like Strike. You may think you know about the wealthy and famous, but you've never seen them under an investigation like this.

Introducing Cormoran Strike, this is the acclaimed first crime novel by J.K. Rowling, writing under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith.

The main reason I suddenly want this book is because I have been seeing its sequel, The Silkworm, in bookstores and it looks really cool. Yes, you read that right. I am suffering, once again, from a very bad case of Book Cover Lust, and it's not even over this particular book I'm featuring. I am a fan of detective and crime novels (they are so much fun to read) and I know that I will enjoy this book (AND the fact that JK Rowling wrote it, just confirmed it for me).

If you guys have read this book feel free to comment your thoughts about it but please I beg you, NO SPOILERS!

What are you wishing for this Wednesday?

Happy Reading,

  4. I am looking forward to your review of The Cuckoo's Calling, Kevin.

Just curious, did you read her first post-HP book, The Casual Vacancy? I didn't care for it at all, and rated it only One Star. I am hoping that Cuckoo and Silkworm are better.

    1. I do hope I'll get it soon! Thanks!

The Casual Vacancy didn't grab my attention at all and everybody wasn't fond of it too. The plot just doesn't sound interesting to me. Social satire's aren't my thing.
